Golden Guitar winner Amber Lawrence will be squeezing in more than a little exercise between her performances on stage at the Murgon Music Muster this weekend.<\/p>\n

Amber will be swapping her guitar and high heels for runners to take on a fitness challenge close to her heart.<\/p>\n

She is aiming squeeze in 1000 minutes of exercise in November as part of the Stroke Foundation\u2019s Stride4Stroke exercise challenge and fundraiser.<\/p>\n

Amber is making the effort in honour of her late father, Brian, who had a massive stroke in 1987. <\/strong><\/p>\n

Stride4Stroke is about encouraging people to get active to reduce their risk of stroke, as well as raising awareness of stroke and its risk factors.<\/p>\n

A Stroke Foundation spokesperson said it was particularly relevant to regional Australians as\u00a0 they are 17 per cent more likely to have a stroke than people living in city areas.<\/p>\n

Nationally, more than 27,400 Australians had a stroke for the first time in their lives in 2020. That\u2019s one stroke every 19 minutes.<\/p>\n

There are almost 450,000 people living with the effects of stroke in the community.<\/p>\n

In Queensland, more than 5300 first time strokes will be experienced by residents in Queensland this year and there are at least 87,000 stroke survivors living in the community.<\/p>\n
