Which is just wonderful!&#8221;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_3264\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-3264\" style=\"width: 350px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/20120520rspca3.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-3264\" title=\"2012 Million Paws Walk\" src=\"http:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/20120520rspca3.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"350\" height=\"333\" srcset=\"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/20120520rspca3.jpg 350w, https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/20120520rspca3-300x285.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 350px) 100vw, 350px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-3264\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Superheroes for the RSPCA &#8230; Wendy and Emily Smith dressed up for this year&#8217;s\u00a0Million Paws Walk (and so did Lilly and Boof)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The RSPCA Million Paws Walk was started in Queensland in 1994 by celebrity vet Dr Cam Day who believed a special event like this could be a &#8220;win-win&#8221; situation: providing a fun day out for pets and their owners, while promoting responsible pet ownership and raising much-needed funds for the RSPCA.<\/p>\n<p>Since then the event has expanded nationally, with around 70 similar walks held around Australia today.<\/p>\n<p>The South Burnett&#8217;s own Million Paws walk began in 2007 and it&#8217;s a &#8220;dogs only&#8221; event.<\/p>\n<p>But it has gradually grown in popularity over the past six years and become a great awareness-raiser for the local RSPCA shelter.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We honestly don&#8217;t know why we had such a terrific turn-out today,&#8221; Kirsty said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It could be the weather &#8211; it&#8217;s a perfect morning, isn&#8217;t it? &#8211; and it could be that we&#8217;ve made it bigger and put it in a much more high visibility location.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We have a lot of sponsors offering great discounts on hydrobaths and micro-chipping today, and that could be a factor too.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;But whatever it is, we&#8217;d really like to thank everyone who came out and supported it.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Pawnote:<\/strong> Eric Munday, (<em>top photo<\/em>), and his wife have raised an incredible 71 newborn puppies for the Kingaroy RSPCA over the years, providing them with a safe and caring environment for the first eight weeks of their lives until they become old enough for adoption.<\/p>\n<p>Eric finally decided to get a dog of his own today when he adopted Milly, a young blue dog,<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;She&#8217;s just beautiful,&#8221; he said. &#8220;I couldn&#8217;t really say no to her.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>But even though the couple now have their own dog, they will continue to look after RSPCA puppies.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_3261\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-3261\" style=\"width: 740px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/20120520rspca2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-3261\" title=\"2012 Million Paws Walk\" src=\"http:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/20120520rspca2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"740\" height=\"417\" srcset=\"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/20120520rspca2.jpg 620w, https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/20120520rspca2-300x169.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 740px) 100vw, 740px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-3261\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Gotta love those pups!
