Prospective police recruits will temporarily have their entry exam fee waived in a State Government bid to encourage enrolment.<\/span><\/p>\n

Police Minister Mark Ryan and Commissioner Katarina Carroll announced on Monday that the $215 Queensland Police Service Entry Assessment and the $20 Physical Fitness test would be free for the next six months for all recruit-hopefuls \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Pre-employment medical screening and assessment costs will remain applicable.<\/span><\/p>\n

Minister Ryan said he was confident the decision to remove $235 of testing fees would further enrolment and create opportunities for more Queenslanders.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWaiving entry testing fees is a great motivator for people who may have previously been discouraged to apply because of the costs involved,\u201d he said.<\/span><\/p>\n

Commissioner Carroll said she <\/span>wanted to encourage everyone who was considering a career in policing to come forward and realise their potential.<\/p>\n

There will be an Open Day at the Bob Atkinson Operational Capabilities Centre in Wacol on November 5 to give potential recruits a taste of what it is like to be a police officer.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cThis is a chance for potential recruits to check out the driver training track, scenario village and indoor firearms range,” Commissioner Carroll said.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
