Two people have been charged with drug trafficking following a 10-month police investigation into the supply of methamphetamine in Murgon and Cherbourg.<\/p>\n

A 51-year-old woman and a 37-year-old man were arrested in Murgon on Tuesday and were due to appear in Murgon Magistrates Court on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

A police spokesperson said “Operation Rumpel” was launched in January by Murgon detectives.<\/p>\n

This resulted in the arrest of 30 people on 241 drugs charges and culminated in Tuesday’s arrests.<\/p>\n

It will be alleged that between January 9 and October 11 this year, the man and the woman supplied and trafficked methamphetamine at Murgon.<\/p>\n

They face 198 charges, including 192 counts of supplying dangerous drugs, as well as one count each of trafficking, receiving property obtained from trafficking or supplying, and possessing property used in the commission of a drug offence.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Detective Sergeant Martin Hunter, from Murgon detectives, thanked the community for the information they provided throughout the course of the investigation.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis operation demonstrated the collaboration of the community and police to deter, detect and disrupt the supply chain for methamphetamine in the area. Regional detectives worked with specialist police units acting on good information supplied by the community which culminated in these arrests,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cOperation Rumpel has put a significant dent in the drug trade in the area which has led to a safer community for both Murgon and Cherbourg.\u201d<\/p>\n

UPDATE:<\/strong> Alyson Imelda Gayton and Benjamin David Stolzenberg were remanded in custody when they appeared in Murgon Magistrates Court on Wednesday. They are scheduled to reappear in court on January 31.<\/p>\n
