Darling Downs South West Queensland (DDSWQ) Medicare Local is inviting health practitioners from across the South Burnett to attend a weekend of clinical education and networking at the “Healthy Connections” weekend in Highfields on May 11-12.<\/p>\n

Well-known medical commentator – and former AMA Persident – Prof Kerryn Phelps will be the keynote speaker on Saturday. <\/p>\n

DDSWQ Medicare Local Rural Primary Health Manager Judith Skinner said the “Healthy Connections” conference program would also provide information on a range of current primary health care topics.<\/p>\n

“Sessions have been scheduled to allow participants to tailor the weekend to best suit their individual educational preferences,” she said. <\/p>\n

“Topics to be covered include eHealth, palliative care, vaccinations, social media in health, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island health, managing an emergency and triaging chest pain in a practice, and dealing with difficult situations.<\/p>\n

“GPs, allied health professionals, nurses, practice team members, community health organisation workers and other primary health care professionals working in the DDSWQ Medicare Local region are strongly encouraged to attend.” <\/p>\n

On Sunday morning, Graeme Joy will lead participants through a session on workplace capacity building and leading high performance teams. <\/p>\n

Mr Joy was the joint leader and navigator of the International North Pole Expedition where he became the first and only Australian to ski to the North Pole.<\/p>\n
