St Mary\u2019s Catholic College in Kingaroy recently farewelled Aunty Daisy Carlo who has been the College\u2019s Indigenous Education Support Officer since 1999.<\/p>\n

School principal Mr Michael Nayler said Aunty Daisy was a much-loved member of the St Mary\u2019s community and had worked closely with a generation of St Mary\u2019s students.<\/p>\n

“Aunty Daisy epitomised our College\u2019s Benedictine message to ‘listen with the ear of your heart’,” he said.<\/p>\n

“She would always take the time needed to be truly present to both the Indigenous and non-Indigenous students that she worked with, and always listened to and cared deeply for them as people.\u201d<\/p>\n

Aunty Daisy’s legacy will continue to be a special part of the St Mary\u2019s community for many years to come.<\/p>\n

Last year, she presented the inaugural “Aunty Daisy Deadly Achievement Award” to Samantha Watson, St Mary\u2019s 2013 College Captain.<\/p>\n

This award, which proudly bears Aunty Daisy\u2019s name, is presented at the College\u2019s Awards Evening and recognises the outstanding achievements of an Indigenous student.<\/p>\n

Samantha Watson and student leader Brendan McCarron presented Aunty Daisy with farewell gifts from the College community.<\/p>\n

On behalf of all past and present students, Samantha thanked Aunty Daisy for her kindness and generosity in serving the students of St Mary\u2019s and wished her all the best for her retirement.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
