October 14, 2022<\/strong><\/p>\n

Another 21 deaths were added to Queensland’s official COVID-19 toll on Friday, taking the total number of fatalities since the pandemic began to 2236.<\/p>\n

All but seven of these deaths have occurred since the Omicron wave coincided with the re-opening of Queensland’s borders.<\/p>\n

The latest deaths occurred in the seven days prior to midnight on Tuesday (October 11).<\/p>\n

The Queensland Health statistics show there are currently 103 people being treated for COVID-19 in Queensland hospitals, including just one patient in intensive care.<\/p>\n

A total of 7064 new cases were officially reported to Queensland Health during the seven-day period.<\/p>\n

Nationally, Australia recorded 36,790 new COVID-19 cases last week and more than 270 deaths.<\/p>\n

The latest statistics coincide with the lifting of mandatory self-isolation for COVID-19 positive people.<\/strong><\/p>\n

From 1:00am on Friday, it is no longer mandatory for people who test positive to COVID-19 to self-isolate at home.<\/p>\n

However, Queensland Health has “strongly recommended” that people who are sick or who have tested positive continue to take action to reduce the risk of transmission.<\/p>\n

Some high-risk settings or other businesses may put in place additional requirements or conditions for staff, visitors and residents to reduce risk of COVID-19 transmission in these settings.<\/p>\n
