October 11, 2022<\/strong><\/p>\n

Trevor Stead will be representing the South Burnett at Toastmasters’ divisional competition after acing the competition in Maryborough at the weekend.<\/p>\n

For the second year in a row, Trevor won the International Speech contest at the area competition, which was held at St Paul’s Memorial Hall.<\/p>\n

He also notched up second places in the Table Topics and Evaluation contests.<\/p>\n

Another South Burnett Toastmasters’ member, Leonie McGregor, picked up a third in the Humorous Speech contest.<\/p>\n

Trevor will now compete in the International Speech contest at the Central Division (Rockhampton to North Brisbane) final which will be held in March next year.<\/p>\n

The winner at this event will go on to compete at the Australasian final.<\/p>\n

Trevor said the the International Speech contest was a five to seven-minute speech on any subject.<\/strong><\/p>\n

He gets to choose the topic.<\/p>\n

“Speech contests are a Toastmasters’ tradition,” Trevor said.<\/p>\n

“Each year, thousands of Toastmasters compete in the Humorous, Evaluation, Tall Tales, Table Topics and International speech contests.<\/p>\n

“Competition begins with club contests, and winners continue competing through the Area, Division and District levels.”<\/p>\n

The South Burnett club held its local competition in August.<\/p>\n

Trevor said South Burnett members meet at the Kingaroy RSL\u00a0on the 1st, 3rd and 5th Thursday of every month.<\/strong><\/p>\n

All guests are welcome.<\/p>\n
