The South Burnett senior cricket competition gets under way this Saturday with games to be played in Kingaroy, Murgon and Nanango.<\/p>\n

The first balls in the 40-over competition will be bowled at 12:30pm:<\/p>\n

  • Wooroolin Warriors v Kingaroy Services Orange at Kingaroy State School<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
      \n
    • Kingaroy Services Blue v Wondai at Taabinga State School<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
        \n
      • Murgon v Tingoora Vikings at Murgon Showground<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
          \n
        • Nanango Scorpions Yellow v Nanango Scorpions Purple at Alan Downie Sports Fields, Nanango<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

          Junior cricketers aiming to take part in the Stage 2 and Stage 3 competitions should get along to the Alan Downie Sports Fields at 8:00am for a muster.<\/p>\n

          * * *<\/strong><\/h2>\n

          Lyle Vidler Oval in Kingaroy will be hosting a game from Round 4 of the Gympie A Grade competition on Saturday.<\/strong><\/p>\n

          The two South Burnett teams in the competition, Wooroolin Warriors and Murgon Crusaders, will face off from 12:30pm.<\/p>\n

          * * *<\/strong><\/h2>\n

          The South Burnett will be hosting two games from the Goodchild Shield senior competition later this month.<\/strong><\/p>\n

          A South Burnett XI is scheduled to play Fraser Coast on Sunday, October 16; and Gympie on Sunday, October 30.<\/p>\n

          * * *<\/strong><\/h2>\n

          South Burnett cricketer Courtney Sippel is celebrating a great start to the 2022 cricket season with the Queensland Fire.<\/strong><\/p>\n

          So far the women’s team has won four from four games, against NSW (Sept 23 & 25) and the ACT (Oct 1 & 3).<\/p>\n

          Sippel took 2\/40 off eight overs and was not out 19 in the first game, took 2\/36 off seven in the second, 2\/24 off four in the third, and 2\/27 off five last Monday.<\/p>\n

          Sippel took the field against another former South Burnett female cricketer, Holly Ferling, who was playing for the ACT Meteors.<\/p>\n

          Under 16s\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n

          South Burnett U16s were defeated by six wickets in their final South East Youth Cup game, played against Logan & District at Lyle Vidler Oval on Sunday (October 2).<\/strong><\/p>\n

          South Burnett were all out for 80.<\/p>\n

          Top scorers were Braidyn Scott (19), James Whiteman (12) and Archie Koehler (11).<\/p>\n

          In reply, Logan overcame the target in the 19th over for the loss of four wickets (4\/82).<\/p>\n

          South Burnett wicket takers were Lawson Black (2\/14), Lochlan Burrows (1\/5) and Tom Town (1\/16).<\/p>\n

          The young South Burnett cricketers gained a lot of experience from taking part in the SEY competition.<\/strong><\/p>\n

          The boys defeated Toowoomba in their first fixtures game, played on August 28, but then went down to Ipswich Hornets (September 4) and Northern Suburbs (September 11).<\/p>\n

          In their semi-final, Redlands (3\/198) defeated South Burnett (7\/196) at Wellington Point on September 18.<\/p>\n

                • Gympie Harlequins drew with Murgon Crusaders at Spencer Oval, Gympie, after Harlequins’ innings was rained out.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
