The forecast wet weather for this weekend has forced the organisers of this year’s South Burnett Relay For Life to shift the event indoors.<\/p>\n

The major fundraiser for Cancer Council Queensland will now be held on Saturday at the Kingaroy Town Hall.<\/p>\n

Organiser Rowena Dionysius told southburnett.com.au<\/strong> all the major highlights would still be going ahead.<\/p>\n

The opening ceremony will start at 2:00pm, and there will be entertainment, including a dance troupe, to encourage the walkers to keep on going.<\/p>\n

The candlelight ceremony, which honours friends and relatives who have succumbed to cancer, will be held at 6:30pm.<\/p>\n

However, as has been the case in recent years, the Relay will not be continuing overnight.<\/p>\n

The closing ceremony has been scheduled for 10:30pm.<\/p>\n

Funds already raised include $28,602 by the South Burnett Mountain Bike Club at “Ride 4 Relay” and the “Cattle For A Cure” sale (heifer auction),\u00a0 $25,295 at the “Cricket 4 Life” fun day, $20,932 by “Brooksy’s Crew” (in memory of the late Ben Brooks), $5040 by Proston Angels, $4388 at Chrissy Trees 4 U\u2019s “Christmas In July” and $1124 by “Birds Of A Feather”.<\/p>\n
