Former Kingaroy State High School student Charlie Plant has taken the opportunity of representing the Nanango Electorate at this year’s YMCA Youth Parliament to highlight important issues facing regional areas.<\/p>\n

Every year one young person aged 15-25 is selected from every electorate in Queensland to form the Youth Parliament and debate important issues.<\/p>\n

Member for Nanango Deb Frecklington said she caught up with Charlie and other youth members during their annual sitting week and was impressed with the passion and dedication shown by the group.<\/p>\n

\u201cQueensland Parliament was a hive of activity for the annual YMCA Youth Parliament sitting week which is a culmination of a six-month program where Youth Members are immersed in the parliamentary process,\u201d Mrs Frecklington said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was delighted to spend some time in the Speaker\u2019s chair during their Question Time and was very impressed by such an amazing group of young people.<\/p>\n

\u201cCharlie Plant was a fantastic representative, speaking on regional issues including skill shortages and debating a Bill relating to his portfolio of Agricultural Industry, Resources and Rural Development.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt has been a pleasure to get to know Charlie over the past few months and assist him with his role as our Nanango Youth member.”<\/p>\n

Charlie is also a member of the inaugural South Burnett Youth Council.<\/p>\n
