Transport Minister Mark Bailey has admitted that South Burnett learner-drivers are currently waiting 30 days to get a car or truck driving test.<\/p>\n

In response to a Question on Notice from local MP Deb Frecklington, Mr Bailer said there was one full-time driving examiner to service Kingaroy, Nanango, Yarraman and Murgon.<\/p>\n

This examiner, who handles both car and truck tests, is currently on leave but is due to return at the end of October.<\/p>\n

“During this period of leave, Kingaroy Customer Service Centre have made one of their driving examiner\/principal customer service advisers available to conduct car tests,” Minister Bailey said.<\/p>\n

“In addition, driving examiners from Toowoomba have been providing relief by conducting both car and truck tests.”<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Minister said the manager of the Kingaroy Customer Service Centre had been liaising with local driving schools and members of the public to accommodate as many truck tests as possible when relief driving examiners were available.<\/p>\n

“Recruitment is currently underway for an additional part-time driving examiner to test both cars and trucks,” he said.<\/p>\n

“There is currently a 30-day wait time in Kingaroy for a car or truck test. Additional testing slots are opened across the region, pending relief driver examiner availability.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
