Senior officials from the Queensland Ambulance Service\u00a0visited a string of South Burnett ambulance stations this week to meet staff and hand out awards to paramedics and members of Local Ambulance Committees (LACs).<\/p>\n

Assistant Commissioner Michelle Baxter ASM was accompanied by members of the regional management team during her tour.<\/p>\n

She told southburnett.com.au<\/strong> she had been appointed to the Darling Downs and South West just eight weeks ago after serving for many years as Assistant Commissioner in the Far Northern region.<\/p>\n

When she dropped into Kingaroy on Thursday morning, Assistant Commissioner Baxter had already visited Nanango station and was heading later to Proston and Murgon.<\/p>\n

She presented two Kingaroy paramedics, Patrick Hides and Renae Birch, with National Emergency Medals for their work in North Queensland in 2019 during the Townsville floods.<\/p>\n

Kingaroy LAC members John Shaw and Danita Potter also received medals to recognise five years of service.<\/p>\n

The get-together with station staff and LAC members was also an opportunity for Savannah Noble to be officially congratulated on her promotion to Advanced Care Paramedic after six months training (and three years at university).<\/strong><\/p>\n

She was presented with her new epaulettes by QAS Clinical Education Manager Kylie Cooke.<\/p>\n

The Kingaroy visit was also an occasion for LAC members and station staff to enjoy a breakfast and congratulate officer-in-charge Mei-Lin Dean, who recently was awarded the QAS Commissioner’s Award for Excellence in Leadership.<\/p>\n

At Proston station, the Assistant Commissioner presented local LAC members Margaret Westerman and David Hunter with five-year service medals, and Raymond and Jackie Dionysius with 20-year medals.<\/p>\n

Footnote: LACs are community-based volunteer groups that support their local ambulance station.<\/em><\/p>\n
