Toowoomba Regional Council has awarded a new waste contract to JJ Richards Waste and Recycling which includes an electric truck being added to the fleet.<\/p>\n

Cr Nancy Sommerfield said she was delighted the new long-term waste contract had been approved.<\/p>\n

The electric garbage truck will handle park and street collections in the Toowoomba CBD.<\/p>\n

\u201cNot only has TRC managed to secure a high quality waste and recycling service for our residents, but the new contract will ensure an environmentally friendly service thanks to the inclusion of the electric truck in the fleet,” Cr Sommerfield said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe 12-year contract which was confirmed at this week\u2019s Ordinary Meeting of Council will ensure the Toowoomba community continues to receive a high-quality service by a valued local contractor.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis was a rigorous tender process as waste collection and recyclables is one of our biggest operations as a local government.”<\/p>\n

TRC also confirmed a short-term contract to Re.Group for the provision of recycling processing services.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe short-term contract was awarded for recycling processing services because TRC intends to provide for a Materials Recovery Facility in the very-near future,\u201d Cr Sommerfield said.<\/p>\n
