Artist Niketa Law’s third exhibition at the Kingaroy Art Gallery highlights the way her art has been evolving over the years.<\/p>\n

Niketa’s latest exhibition, “Bloom”, was officially opened by her father, Cherbourg Elder Uncle Eric Law AM, on Saturday morning and will be on display at the gallery all this month.<\/p>\n

Uncle Eric said he was very proud of his daughter and the stories she was telling through her artworks.<\/p>\n

“Indigenous culture is all about telling stories, and each of these paintings tells a story,” he said.<\/p>\n

The popularity of Niketa’s works is demonstrated by the number of “red dots” which were adorning her works before the official opening was over.<\/p>\n

Niketa said she was very proud to be showing her artworks on the lands of the Wakka Wakka people.<\/strong><\/p>\n

She said she believed her art had evolved since her first exhibition in Kingaroy and was now more mature and pushing boundaries.<\/p>\n

“I am a self-taught traditional contemporary Aboriginal artist,” she said.<\/p>\n

“I am not only influenced but guided by the past and the present. I pay homage to my ancestors with every piece I do.<\/p>\n

“Creating a piece is a journey for me from start to finish.”<\/p>\n
