Primary producers and businesses affected by Ex-Tropical Cyclone Seth and last year’s November\/December floods have been granted extra time to apply for Extraordinary Disaster Assistance Recovery Grants.<\/p>\n

Applications for support following Ex-Tropical Cyclone Seth (December 29-January 10) have been extended from October 28 to February 3.<\/p>\n

Applications covering the Central, Southern and Western Queensland Rainfall and Flooding event (November 10-December 3) have been extended from September 30 to December 5.<\/p>\n

However, application deadlines linked to other 2022 floods remain unchanged.<\/p>\n

The grants are jointly funded by the Federal and State governments under the Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA).<\/p>\n

Emergency Management Minister Senator Murray Watt said the grant submission dates had been extended because the Federal Government recognised the severe and ongoing challenges of the two weather events.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cWe understand that getting grant applications finalised is not necessarily front-of-mind after a disaster, and people may need more time to apply,\u201d Senator Watt said.<\/p>\n

Deputy Premier Steven Miles said the decision had been made after community feedback.<\/p>\n

\u201cFrom ongoing wet weather, to the availability of contractors and supplies, there are a number of factors contributing to the recovery constraints we\u2019re seeing on the ground,\u201d Mr Miles said.<\/p>\n

\u201cBy extending these grant submission dates we hope to alleviate these pressures and allow anyone affected to apply for funding support.”<\/p>\n

Member for Nanango Deb Frecklington welcomed the announcement of an extension for two of the disaster flood grants application deadlines.<\/strong><\/p>\n

“This is a win for primary producers, who are have been calling for the government to recognise how difficult it has been to undertake restoration activities due to continued wet weather,” Mrs Frecklington said.<\/p>\n

“While I had called for a three-month extension for each of the grant deadlines, the new deadlines extension will give those affected by the November rains, and Ex-Tropical Cyclone Seth an extra two months to apply.<\/p>\n

“Please also note, an important and welcome change has occurred in relation to the eligibility of manure and compost claims. I would encourage producers to check with QRIDA for details on 1800-623-946.”<\/p>\n
