September 2, 2022<\/strong><\/p>\n

One of the highlights of the recent BaconFest weekend was “PigJam”, a battle of the bands competition held in Kingaroy’s O’Neill Square on the Saturday night.<\/p>\n

The event was the brainchild of the recently formed South Burnett Youth Council.<\/p>\n

It was the group’s first major project and they handled all the organisation and promotion (with some help from the South Burnett Regional Council’s Margie Hams and Cr Danita Potter).<\/p>\n

The competition was open to musicians aged from 12 to 25, with an eventual line up of 10 bands.<\/p>\n

Guest band, “Without a Doubt”, also performed.<\/p>\n

Kingaroy band “Sparrow” took out first place performing three rock classics, including Guns N’ Roses’ “Sweet Child O’ Mine”.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Their prize included a cheque and the opportunity to play live on air at CROW-FM.<\/p>\n

Blackbutt band “Savage Black”, featuring family members Terra, Jonnie and Cooper Savage, just missed out on the top spot.<\/p>\n

Gayndah bands took out third and fourth spots.<\/p>\n
