Western Downs Regional Council has warned residents to watch out for scammers claiming to be from Council.<\/p>\n

A Council spokesperson said the WDRC had been made aware that some residents had received scam text messages claiming to be from the Western Downs Regional Council in relation to unpaid water notices. <\/strong><\/p>\n

“Please be aware that WDRC does not distribute water or rates notices by text message. If you receive a text message of this nature please do not respond or share any personal details,” the spokesperson said.<\/p>\n

Scammers have also been targeting WDRC residents with phone calls claiming to be from Council conducting a phone survey.<\/p>\n

“Council is not conducting any customer surveys by phone at this time,” the spokesperson said. <\/p>\n

“If you receive a phone call asking to complete a survey, do not provide or update any details over the phone.<\/p>\n

“If you are not sure about the legitimacy of a call, please hang up and phone Council back on 1300 COUNCIL 1300-268-624.”<\/p>\n
