Motorcycling is fun but it can also be deadly … and a special day in Kingaroy this Saturday aims to show motorcycling enthusiasts how they can dramatically reduce their risk of death or injury while riding<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

August 25, 2022<\/strong><\/p>\n

A motorcycle education and awareness event being held in Kingaroy this weekend will try to reduce the shocking rate of injuries and deaths among local motorcyclists.<\/p>\n

In the past 10 years there have been 123 motorcycle crashes in the South Burnett, according to official statistics.<\/p>\n

These crashes caused six fatalities and left 114 riders injured – a horrific result that Kingaroy police want to address.<\/p>\n

On Saturday (August 27), the South Burnett Motorcycle Training complex at 10258 Bunya Highway south-west of Kingaroy will be hosting “The Shiny Side Up” to help raise awareness about motorcycle safety.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This will be the first time the Brisbane-based event has been run in the region, and it has been designed especially for motorcycling enthusiasts.<\/p>\n

Former professional motorcycle racer Garry McCoy will be attending, and so will the Shannon\u2019s Super Rig and its exciting driving simulators.<\/p>\n

There’ll be a wide range of motorcycle and industry displays and demonstrations in the grounds along with food stalls, and lots of prizes to be won.<\/p>\n

Traffic police will also be giving demonstrations of motorcycle vehicle manoeuvres and explaining the importance of stopping distances, riding to conditions and “ride craft” – that is, the ability to anticipate and react to situations in ways that significantly reduce or eliminate the chance of coming to grief.<\/p>\n

The day will get underway at 10:00am and run until late.<\/strong><\/p>\n
