A large, modern amenities block being built by Somerset Regional Council at Moore will soon replace the 33-year-old brick structure familiar to D’Aguilar Highway motorists<\/figcaption><\/figure>August 23, 2022<\/strong><\/p>\n

Passing motorists, residents and people visiting the northern end of the Brisbane Valley Rail Trail will soon be able to use better amenities. <\/p>\n

Somerset Regional Council is building two new amenities blocks in Moore and Linville, both of which are close to completion.<\/p>\n

And the South Burnett Regional Council has repaired a similar amenities block at Benarkin and reopened it for public use.<\/p>\n

In Moore, the Council is replacing the existing brick amenities block at Stanley Gates Park in the heart of the town.<\/strong><\/p>\n

A much bigger, more modern facility featuring toilets, showers, water tanks, a new bore and new water treatment facilities is being built at a new location in the park.<\/p>\n

In recent years the current amenities block – built in 1989 – has struggled to cope with the volume of use it now receives.<\/p>\n

The bore that supplied water to the block proved to be unreliable, and the old facilities lacked disability accessible toilets. <\/p>\n

Once the new new block is built, the old one will be demolished and the area it occupied restored to parkland.<\/p>\n

Nearby Linville is also getting new a new amenities block.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This is located in Ditchman Park, opposite the Linville Hotel near the Linville trailhead.<\/p>\n

The prefabricated unit includes a disability accessible toilet and shower facilities.<\/p>\n

It will also use solar power to produce hot water, augmented with an electric booster for cloudy days.<\/p>\n

Both projects are being funded by a $403,000 grant from the Queensland Reconstruction Authority\u2019s Bushfire Recovery funding program.<\/p>\n

Completion of the two new blocks will follow the recent re-opening of the South Burnett Regional Council’s facility at First Settlers Park in Benarkin.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The block’s shower and toilets are fully functional again after the SBRC spent several months repairing the block’s waste water treatment and septic systems. <\/p>\n
