The South Burnett Saints AFL Football Club used a $3000 grant from the State Government to host a Domestic Violence Awareness family fun day in Kingaroy on Saturday.<\/p>\n

The event, at Lyle Vidler Oval, was competing against the Kingaroy Show across the road and a big rugby league triple header next door but it still managed to draw a good crowd.<\/p>\n

Guests from local welfare agencies mingled with players and were involved in the coin toss before the start of the main game.<\/p>\n

The family day began at 8:00am with breakfast before the junior games kicked off and then continued into the early evening with live music by local band Stunt Pig.<\/p>\n

The South Burnett Saints abandoned their usual strip to turn out in orange and yellow for the Domestic Violence Awareness event<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

The Saints improved on last week’s performance but the Bombers still had too much firepower<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

On the paddock, the Saints were targeted by the South Toowoomba Bombers who demolished the home side 26.16 (172) to 5.11 (41).<\/strong><\/p>\n

Ty Snow was again the South Burnett’s top scorer with two goals.<\/p>\n

Also goaling were Jordan Pressnell, Aidan Brennan and Alexander Totton.<\/p>\n

The Saints can take a breather next weekend as there are no games scheduled in the AFL Darling Downs competition.<\/p>\n

Their next game will be another home game, against University, at Lyle Vidler Oval from 2:30pm on Saturday, May 18.<\/p>\n
