A workshop will be held in Kingaroy on August 30 to encourage “best practice” in groups that use volunteers.

The event will be run by Volunteering Queensland in conjunction with the South Burnett Regional Council and BIEDO.

A Council spokesperson said the workshop would assist organisations to recruit new volunteers and learn about managing and leading volunteers.

Volunteering Queensland will explain the National Standards for Volunteer Involvement.

Attendees can also ask questions about current volunteering trends, discuss the issues facing organisations since the pandemic, and network with other local volunteer organisations.

The Council spokesperson said the program was suitable for office bearers, volunteer co-ordinators and managers from community groups, sporting organisations, church groups, seniors groups, community hall committees, show societies, event committees and social welfare groups.

People who attend the free workshop will receive a copy of the Volunteer National Standards guide and workbook and lunch will also be provided.

The workshop will be held at the Kingaroy Town Hall on Tuesday, August 30, from 10:00am-3:00pm.
