Powerlink will be holding meetings in Nanango and Yarraman soon to discuss possible future locations for high voltage power lines.<\/p>\n

The company is conducting public consultations as part of the State Government’s investigation of a potential pumped hydro energy storage development at Borumba Dam, near Imbil.<\/p>\n

The project has been earmarked as a potential pumped hydro site for nearly four decades.<\/p>\n

But in this year’s Budget, the idea gained traction when the State Government approved up to $13 million for technical studies so that a final investment decision can be made.<\/strong> <\/p>\n

Powerlink was selected to manage the detailed design and cost analysis on the pumped hydro project.<\/p>\n

If it proceeds, new transmission lines will need to be built to connect the pumped hydro facility to the existing network through Powerlink\u2019s Tarong and Woolooga substations. <\/p>\n

The aim of the South Burnett meetings is to gather feedback from Nanango and Yarraman residents about their preferred locations for the powerlines that will connect Borumba Dam to the Tarong substation.<\/p>\n
