South Burnett entrants have been shining in the Ekka’s annual school-based and junior competitions.<\/p>\n

On Monday, Kingaroy’s Gorgie Plowman won the Interschool Paraders competition.<\/p>\n

Gorgie was following a family tradition. Her older sister, Chloe, won the event in 2019 (the last time the competition was held due to the pandemic) and then went on to win the national competition at the Sydney Royal Easter Show.<\/p>\n

And on Tuesday, the Kingaroy State High School team took out the Interschool Steer Judging competition.<\/p>\n

The team – which consisted of students Rhianon Braithwaite, Jamie-Lee Webb and Liam Cullen – overcame 19 other school teams from across Queensland and NSW to achieve the top spot.<\/p>\n

Kingaroy State High School was named as this year’s most successful school.<\/p>\n

KSHS students also picked up prizes in Education On Show categories: a third in the Let Friendships Grow Mural competition; and student Karlee Mallyer came third in the Acrostic Poem (English) competition. Imogen Perkins and Helena Phillips-Petersen were highly commended and commended in the Leaf Print (Visual Arts) category.<\/p>\n

Murgon’s Jessica Beddows also found success on Tuesday in the Prime Cattle Junior Judges competition. It was her first win in the competition after two attempts.<\/p>\n

Angus Haynes, representing the South Burnett Sub-Chamber, took out the Prime Cattle Young Judges competition.<\/p>\n
