Work is under way to install the new electric vehicle charging point in Glendon Street, Kingaroy<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

The new Glendon Street community hub in Kingaroy will feature an electric vehicle recharging station, courtesy of Phase 3 of the State Government’s “Electric Super Highway”.<\/p>\n

Construction of the town space, part of the Kingaroy Transformation Project, is well under way after weeks of frantic activity.<\/p>\n

The work, which has blocked traffic outside the Council Chambers, has included the laying of concrete for new parking bays and the installation of underground cables.<\/p>\n

Some of these will service the new EV charging station which will be positioned on the eastern side of the area.<\/p>\n

The Kingaroy station is the first of 24 new chargers to be built by Yurika, part of the State Government-owned Energy Queensland.<\/p>\n

\u201cFirst stop is Kingaroy, soon to be followed by Longreach, Barcaldine, Blackall, Charleville, Miles and Stanthorpe,\u201d Transport Minister Mark Bailey said.<\/p>\n

\u201cElectric vehicles are finding their place on Queensland roads, with more than 10,000 now registered.<\/p>\n

\u201cQueensland\u2019s Electric Super Highway is currently positioned in 31 locations and is now expanding to a further 24 across the interior of the State.”<\/p>\n

Assistant Minister for Regional Roads Bruce Saunders said the Phase 3 rollout would extend the Super Highway to 5400km.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cThis system will be the single largest electric super highway in one jurisdiction anywhere in the world \u2013 that\u2019s a fantastic achievement for Queensland,\u201d Mr Saunders said.<\/p>\n

The Glendon Street unit will be the second public EV charging station in Kingaroy.<\/p>\n

In January, the South Burnett Regional Council officially opened an EV charging unit – sponsored by Stanwell Corporation – in the Alford Street car park.<\/p>\n
