The South Burnett Thrashers travelled to Dalby on Saturday for a top-of-the-table clash against the Dalby Wheatmen.<\/p>\n

It was always going to be a tough game.<\/p>\n

The last time the sides met, back in May at Kingaroy, the Wheatmen came out on top 19-12.<\/p>\n

The Thrashers held their own in the first half, with the scores locked 12-all at half-time.<\/p>\n

“The first half was very tight,” club president Jamie Shirlaw said.<\/p>\n

“Amosa \u2018Lion\u2019 Nuu scored the two tries with Marcus Jensen kicked one conversion.<\/strong><\/p>\n

“In the second half we were not able to take advantage of our opportunities letting in 12 unanswered points.<\/p>\n

“Our defence is normally the strongest part of our game but Dalby were able to find and exploit weaknesses. We will need to work on our defence and set play before taking on Goondiwindi next weekend.<\/p>\n

“Unfortunately after this result we are back into third place.”<\/p>\n

The Thrashers had been hoping to hold on to the number 2 spot on the ladder to create an easier path to the Grand Final.<\/p>\n

This week’s game, against the Goondiwindi Emus, will be played at Toowoomba and is the last round of regular fixtures.<\/p>\n
