Murgon detectives have arrested and charged a 15-year-old boy over a break-in at the South Burnett PCYC in Murgon at the weekend.<\/p>\n

Three boys – aged 12, 14 and 15 – have also been dealt with under the Youth Justice Act.<\/p>\n

Police will allege the boys forced entry into the basketball court at the centre on Sunday before breaking into the office.<\/p>\n

They then allegedly stole various items including laptops, mobile phones, gaming consoles, tablets and a television.<\/p>\n

The boys also allegedly smashed a window and damaged personal items belonging to staff, before discharging fire extinguishers throughout the premises.<\/p>\n

South Burnett PCYC’s Sergeant Rene Bond said that while the incident was extremely disappointing, police and the PCYC staff remained committed to supporting the young people in the community.<\/p>\n

\u201cIncidents like these break our hearts, but we will continue to provide programs to improve the lives of our young people as best we can,” Sgt Bond said.<\/p>\n

The South Burnett PCYC was closed to the public for several days while repairs were completed.<\/p>\n

A police spokesperson said Murgon detectives were able to recover a significant amount of the stolen property.<\/p>\n

Police said family members of the boys had assisted in the investigation, and been supportive of police actions.<\/p>\n

The 15-year-old boy will appear in Murgon Children\u2019s Court.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
