May 3, 2013<\/strong><\/p>\n

Get on track and head for Yarraman! On Saturday, May 18, residents will be celebrating 100 years since the arrival of the first train to the town.<\/p>\n

A day of activities has been organised at Heritage House in Millar Street to mark the occasion.<\/p>\n

At 11:30am, an official commemorative ceremony will be held with the planting of an ironbark and the unveiling of a plaque on the old railway station building.<\/p>\n

During the day, there’ll also be live entertainment, bush poetry, a barbecue, free face-painting, circus workshops and horse carriage rides from 9:00am.<\/p>\n

Visitors will also be able to view a collection of historic displays and photographs depicting the history of the Brisbane Valley railway.<\/p>\n

* * *<\/strong><\/center>Also part of the celebrations, the South Burnett PCYC has organised a mountain bike ride along the old railway line on the day.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The 15km ride along the Brisbane Valley Rail Trail will start at Heritage House. Registrations will be taken at 8:00am. There is a $5 entry fee.<\/p>\n

At 10:00am, there’ll also be a best-dressed mountain bike competition, open to all ages.<\/p>\n

* * *<\/strong><\/center>In the evening, celebrations will continue with an Oktoberfest dance at the Yarraman Community Hall in Browne Street.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Doors open at 7:00pm.<\/p>\n

There’ll be a finger food supper, bar operating and live entertainment with guest trio Euroband from Hervey Bay.<\/p>\n

* * *<\/strong><\/center>On Sunday, May 19, the South Burnett Trail Horse Riders will be holding a 22km trail ride along the Brisbane Valley Rail Trail.<\/strong><\/p>\n
