The second and final month of the Queensland Winter Craft Festival may be just about stitched up for another year but its most exciting sewing event will be running this weekend.<\/p>\n

This year, the Quilt Trail is back and bigger than ever for its second outing, wending its way through seven uniquely different stops that will delight anyone interested in sewing or quilting.<\/p>\n

Last year\u2019s inaugural outing brought busloads of tourists to the region and organisers are hoping for a similar roll-up this year.<\/p>\n

Owners of Alisellou Designs Sewing Centre in Wooroolin – Gary Wakely and Sylvia Berkett – said this was the first time they have been involved with the Winter Craft Festival’s Quilt Trail.<\/strong><\/p>\n

“We are very excited to have been invited,” Mr Wakely said.<\/p>\n

“The Quilt Trail is an important part of both the Winter Craft Festival because we have a very strong quilting community here, and we believe it is important to build on this and ensure it grows year on year.”<\/p>\n

Janine Heyer from Sew Much More in Kingaroy said this was her second year she had been involved with the trail. <\/strong><\/p>\n

“I think the Quilt Trail is a great addition to the festival because it gives people a wider variety of ideas and gets them to stop in and visit places they didn’t know existed,” she said.<\/p>\n

“We moved our shop two years ago so there are a lot of people that thought we closed down.<\/p>\n

“But now they are rediscovering us again, which has been great for business.”<\/p>\n

Ms Heyer said the trail was also a boon for the region\u2019s tourism.<\/strong><\/p>\n

“It’s good for the travellers to know where we are, and being open all weekend gives them a chance to come in and have a good browse,” she said.<\/p>\n

“The best part is seeing all the lovely faces and meeting all kinds of people and seeing how passionate they are about the things we sell in our stores.<\/p>\n

“And of course, it also gives other people ideas on their next projects if they are at a standstill.”<\/p>\n

The 2022 Winter Craft Festival Quilt Trail will run from 9:00am to 3:00pm on Saturday (July 23) and from 9:00am to 2:00pm on Sunday (July 24).<\/strong><\/p>\n
