About 850 students explored the annual South Burnett Careers Market on Thursday … and their future career choices!<\/p>\n

Schools taking part in the annual event at TAFE Queensland\u2019s Kingaroy campus included Kingaroy and Nanango State High Schools, St Mary’s Catholic College, St John’s Lutheran School, Yarraman and Wondai P-9s, Proston P-10 and Burnett State College (Gayndah)<\/p>\n

The students had the opportunity to learn more about various career pathways, including TAFE and university courses, traineeships and apprenticeships.<\/p>\n

All the visitors went away with a TAFE bag filled with course information.<\/p>\n

Local employers also had displays, including Stanwell, Bega (PCA), South Burnett CTC and the South Burnett Regional Council.<\/p>\n

The Australian Defence Force, Queensland Police Service, Queensland Fire and Emergency Service and Queensland Ambulance Service were also represented.<\/p>\n

The students enjoyed many hands-on activities including automotive, electrotechnology, metal fabrication and hairdressing.<\/p>\n

The Careers Market was also a perfect opportunity for the Queensland Police Service to debut their brand new Darling Downs District Mobile Police Beat (MPB) van.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The MPB is a highly mobile unit which has most of the facilities available at a police station but is available for despatch to areas on demand.<\/p>\n

It provides a highly visible policing presence as well as a platform to support police operations.<\/p>\n

The MPB can be used as a command centre at events, major crime scenes or emergencies as well as a platform for crime prevention initiatives.<\/p>\n

It has independent power and can operate for an indefinite time at any location.<\/p>\n
