Wondai Wolves’ veterans who turned up for the rugby league club’s annual “Old Boys” celebration went home happy last Saturday.<\/p>\n

The Wolves fought back in the second half of their A Grade game to score a tight 24-20 win over the Cherbourg Hornets at Wondai Sportsground.<\/p>\n

The Wolves were ahead 14-6 at half-time but the Hornets scored three quick tries after the break to take the lead, 20-14.<\/p>\n

But with 20 minutes to go, Alex Georgetown converted his own try and levelled the scores at 20-all.<\/strong><\/p>\n

And then 10 minutes later, the Wolves’ Luke Hedges broke the deadlock to score in the corner.<\/p>\n

The conversion attempt missed but the Wolves held out Cherbourg for the rest of the game.<\/p>\n

Wondai tries were scored by Sonny Weazel (2), Jermaine Harrison, Alex Georgetown and Luke Hedges. Georgetown kicked two goals.<\/p>\n

Cherbourg try scorers were Jovan Gyemore (2) and Tyreece Gyemore (2). Joven Gyemore and George Fisher each kicked a conversion.<\/p>\n

In the first match played on Saturday afternoon, Murgon Mustangs downed the Kingaroy Red Ants in a high-scoring game, 44-32.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Murgon try scorers were Alfred Watcho (2), Barwoo Fisher (2), Buddy Stanley (2), Jared Sippel, Johnathon Walsh and Glen Fisher. Walsh kicked three goals and Glen Fisher kicked one.<\/p>\n

For Kingaroy, try scorers were Toby Broomhall (2), Mason Trappe (2), James Christensen and Jack Hourne.\u00a0Harry Sterling kicked four goals.<\/p>\n
