A fundraising drive to gather $10,000 to help a local father bring his daughter home from Adelaide for burial has achieved its goal in little more than a week.<\/p>\n

The seven-year-old girl – Yarraman P-9 student Kahleesi Roser – died after an accident which occurred while holidaying in the Northern Territory.<\/p>\n

The child suffered critical head injuries when she fell from a moving 4WD.<\/p>\n

She was rushed to a nearby clinic before being airlifted to the Royal Adelaide Hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries.<\/p>\n

Last Saturday, a community event at the Yarraman Bowls Club attracted 150 people for an afternoon of bowls and socialising that raised a $4622 in just a few hours.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The event was organised by Yarraman residents Sandra Currell, Rob Holland and several helpers.<\/p>\n

Some guests – rugged up against the chilly winter weather – enjoyed games of bowls out on the greens, while many others stayed in the warm clubhouse to chat and mingle over drinks and finger foods prepared and served up by volunteers.<\/p>\n

Sandra and Rob said they were very pleased with the turnout, and even more pleased the project would hit its target quickly thanks to the generosity of another local group.<\/p>\n

They said Boots’n\u00a0Bulldust – a not-for-profit community organisation that runs a pre-loved clothing and furniture shop in Pound Street, Kingaroy – donated $5000 to the drive before the community day even started<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Those funds – along with a donation of $500 from Yarraman P-9’s P&C – ensured the drive would not just hit its target but slightly exceed it.<\/p>\n

Yarraman P-9 also plans to set up a memorial in the school to honour Kahleesi.<\/p>\n
