July 15, 2022<\/strong><\/p>\n

ABARES – the science and economics research division of the Federal Government’s Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry – will be holding a Regional Outlook conference in Toowoomba on July 27.<\/p>\n

ABARES spokesperson Kurt Hockey said the panel discussion on “Adopting and Adapting for Sustainable Growth” was generating considerable interest.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have farm businesses and researchers coming together to share their experiences and ideas on how agriculture can adapt to the challenges it is facing and position itself for success,\u201d Mr Hockey said.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf you want to be part of the conversation, I\u2019m encouraging people to register online \u2013 it\u2019s a free conference but places are limited.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201dI\u2019ll be discussing the big picture issues affecting farmers in southern Queensland while my colleague Jonathan Wong will be taking a closer look at the region\u2019s commodities and where trends are heading.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ve had recent high commodity prices for grains, but we\u2019re also aware of the challenges from the recent wet weather and rising input costs.\u201d<\/p>\n

Conference sessions will examine agriculture\u2019s contribution to Australia\u2019s prosperity, driving value in agriculture, and the outlook for the sector and key commodities.<\/p>\n

Commodity forecasts and research results will also be shared.<\/p>\n
