The Stags overwhelmed the Murgon Mustangs in the first half, but Murgon rallied in the second to score four tries<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Nanango Stags left Murgon shellshocked during the first 10 minutes of their A Grade rugby league clash at T.J. O’Neill Oval in Kingaroy last Saturday, racking up two quick tries in super-quick time.<\/p>\n

The Mustangs, who were missing key players, simply couldn’t recover from the early Stags’ onslaught.<\/p>\n

Both sides had trouble holding on to the ball in the slippery conditions, but Nanango dominated early possession and the scoreboard.<\/p>\n

The Stags were ahead 28-0 at half-time in the top-of-the-table contest.<\/p>\n

The second half, played under lights, was more even with Murgon able to score first and then notch up three more converted tries.<\/strong><\/p>\n

However the Mustangs could not make up their first-half deficit, eventually going down 44-24.<\/p>\n

Nanango tries were scored by Jakeb Mead (2), Drew Jackson (2), Joe Smith, Matthew Early, Blake Harvey and Richard Ryan. Mead kicked six goals.<\/p>\n

Murgon try scorers were Jared Sippel (2), Louis Crawford and Glen Fisher. Daron Saltner-Bligh kicked three conversions and Fisher one.<\/p>\n

The second A Grade game at T.J. O’Neill Oval was a dour struggle between Kingaroy and the Wondai Wolves.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The small home crowd which turned up in the wintry conditions was rewarded with a win after a tight game.<\/p>\n

The Red Ants led 10-6 at half-time but the Wolves found new life after the break.<\/p>\n

A Sonny Weazel try with 26 minutes left on the clock evened the scores at 14-all, with the Luke Hedges’ conversion putting the Wolves a whisker ahead.<\/p>\n

But the Red Ants brought home two more tries before full-time, stretching the final score out to 24-16.<\/p>\n

Kingaroy tries were scored by Mason Trappe (2), Jasper Millar, Harry Sterling and Connor Sullivan. Sterling kicked two goals.<\/p>\n

Wondai try scorers were Sonny Weazel (2) and Malik Saltner. Weazel and Luke Hedges kicked one goal apiece.<\/p>\n
