A $423,300 State Government grant to SkilledCentred Queensland will assist 18 people in Cherbourg gain construction skills.<\/p>\n

The Skilling Queenslanders for Work grant was announced by the State Government on Friday.<\/p>\n

It is one of 19 projects to be funded – to a total cost of $2.297 million – across the Darling Downs and South West Queensland region.<\/p>\n

These projects are designed to assist a total of 405 people.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe projects will deliver tailored support for local unemployed and underemployed people to prepare them for new opportunities with businesses in key sectors for the local economy,\u201d Training Minister Di Farmer said.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cThese projects assist people from a variety of backgrounds to improve their employment prospects including young people looking for their first job, women returning to the workforce, migrants and refugees making a new life in Queensland and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people wanting to support their community.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to the State Government, 76 per cent of participants find work or take on further training about 12 months after completing a Skilling Queenslanders for Work program.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
