The Cherbourg Ration Shed is one of seven Queensland-based organisations or artists which will receive funding through the State Government’s “First Nations Art, Craft and Design: Transforming Marketplaces”.<\/p>\n

“Cherbourg Historical Precinct Group\u2019s ‘The Ration Shed Market Place’ will build digital capacity to create pathways for new audiences and develop its trainee program,” Arts Minister Leeanne Enoch said.<\/p>\n

The group will receive $58,000 for its Ration Shed Market Place and Digital Strategy.<\/p>\n

Minister Enoch said the funding program would support the ambitions of the First Nations arts sector “to grow and showcase work to larger audiences”.<\/p>\n

The groups which have been funded are:<\/strong><\/p>\n

  • Ngalmun Lagau Minaral TSI Corp (Moa Arts) – Digital Media Activation – Zenadth Kes (DMAZK) \u2013 (Torres Strait Islands)<\/li>\n
  • Cherbourg Historical Precinct Group Inc – Ration Shed Market Place and Digital Strategy \u2013 (Cherbourg)<\/li>\n
  • Girringun Aboriginal Corporation – Shop Girringun + Virtual Girringun 3.0 \u2013 (Cardwell)<\/li>\n
  • Strait Experience – Strait Experience – ecommerce for Indigenous art \u2013 (Torres Strait Islands)<\/li>\n
  • Mr Lucas Schober – BlakSeed Art and Apparel \u2013 (Brisbane)<\/li>\n
  • Surat Aboriginal Corporation – Bamba Gii Merchandise \u2013 (Surat)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    The Cherbourg Ration Shed Museum will also receive $210,000 over two years as part of the State Government’s $22.5 million Arts and Recovery Package (Stage 2).<\/strong><\/p>\n

    The funding is part of a total $610,000 awarded to 14 Indigenous arts centres across Queensland.<\/p>\n

    The “Indigenous Art Centre Uplift” is a two-year funding program available to established Indigenous Art Centres that are already engaged in supporting First Nations artists and arts workers in professional visual arts practice.<\/p>\n
