2022 Miss South Burnett Showgirl Abby Buhlmann, Rural Ambassador Daniel Trace and Dark Rich Fruit Cake winner Gloria Fleming will be representing the region in the Queensland competition held at the annual Brisbane Ekka<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Representatives from the region’s Show Societies met at Blackbutt’s Showgrounds recently to select this year’s South Burnett Sub-Chamber representatives for the 2022 Brisbane Ekka.<\/p>\n

Winners of this year’s local stud beef and prime beef judging competitions showed their skills to judge Midge Thompson from Aussie Land and Livestock in the cattle ring during the day.<\/p>\n

And in the evening, local winners of the Miss Showgirl, Rural Ambassador and Rich Dark Fruit Cake competitions were invited to meet the judges over a semi-formal dinner.<\/p>\n

This year, COVID restrictions and wet weather forced last-minute cancellations or postponements of several of the region’s annual shows, which reduced the number of entrants in the Sub-Chamber’s annual competitions.<\/p>\n

But the judges said they still found it difficult to select the ultimate winners from a wide field of talented entrants.<\/p>\n

In the end, they chose Goomeri’s 2022 Miss Showgirl Abby Buhlmann, from Booubyjan, and Nanango’s 2022 Rural Ambassador Daniel Trace as this year’s regional representative in the Ekka’s Miss Showgirl and Rural Ambassador competitions.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Bianca King-Kogut, from Kingaroy, was selected as Rural Ambassador runner-up, and will step into Daniel’s role if he is unable to participate in the Ekka<\/p>\n

They also announced that Georgia Graham (Young Judges Stud Beef) and Angus Hayne (Young Judges Prime Beef) had been selected as the winners of those competitions.<\/p>\n

During the dinner, the final of the Dark Rich Fruit Cake competition was judged. The top prize was awarded to Gloria Fleming, from Nanango.<\/p>\n

Gloria said it was the fourth time she had won the regional award, and she thanked sponsor Amy Wicks from Wicks & Co Auctioneers for supporting the event.<\/p>\n
