{"id":320910,"date":"2022-07-06T17:34:53","date_gmt":"2022-07-06T07:34:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/?p=320910"},"modified":"2022-07-06T17:42:54","modified_gmt":"2022-07-06T07:42:54","slug":"trc-community-grants-open-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/2022\/07\/06\/trc-community-grants-open-2\/","title":{"rendered":"TRC Community Grants Open"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure id=\"attachment_260417\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-260417\" style=\"width: 200px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/jamesoshea1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-260417\" src=\"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/jamesoshea1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"200\" height=\"257\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-260417\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Cr James O&#8217;Shea (Photo: Facebook)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>July 6, 2022<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Applications have opened for Toowoomba Regional Council\u2019s next round of community grants.<\/p>\n<p>Cr James O\u2019Shea said community and not-for-profit groups were welcome to apply for funding to assist their project or event.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Applications must be lodged by August 1.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Cr O\u2019Shea said the current funding program covered applications for Sport and Recreation, Event Support, Community Support, Community Economic Development, Environment, Cultural and Arts Support and Sports Tourism.<\/p>\n<p>Revised eligibility criteria for the Sport and Recreation grant program meant groups that had small projects that required smaller contributions could now access the program.<\/p>\n<p>Cr O&#8217;Shea said the current application round was the first that would need to be lodged online via Council\u2019s new SmartyGrants software platform.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe entire application process \u2013 from start to finish, as well as contact from Council\u2019s grants team during the review, funding agreement and acquittal stage \u2013 will occur within the one platform,\u201d Cr O\u2019Shea said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSmartyGrants offers many advantages to residents, including the ability to attach required documents when submitting the application. Users will no longer need to drop off their application in person or via the postal system.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201cThe new electronic application forms can be found under the existing &#8216;grants and funding&#8217; heading on Council\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tr.qld.gov.au\/community-business\/grants-funding\/apply-by-category\/6464-community-support\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">website<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cResidents can call 13-18-72 to book a consultation with relevant staff to arrange for help with tailoring grant proposals.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Mayor Paul Antonio said Community Economic Development grants up to $5000 (or in some cases up to $10,000 per applicant, with matched funding) were available to help community organisations deliver programs designed to benefit local businesses and the broader area.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCouncil is determined to support our Chambers of Commerce, Progress Associations and other not-for-profit groups who meet the selection criteria to deliver programs and job-creating projects that will benefit local businesses, particularly as our businesses continue to recover from the effects of the coronavirus pandemic,\u201d Mayor Antonio said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis funding is aimed specifically at empowering local organisations to deliver the types of projects that they know will support economic growth and opportunities in their own communities.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCouncil envisages that these grants will support the implementation of the Toowoomba Region Economic Development Strategy and township economic development plans like the Community Growth Action Plans.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Cr O\u2019Shea said Council was pleased to offer financial assistance to a diverse range of community and not-for-profit groups.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201cPreference is given to applications that fulfil a range of criteria covering community inclusiveness and interaction, a willingness to encourage community partnerships, upgrading facilities or services or establishing a new service, facility or initiative,\u201d Cr O\u2019Shea said.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cDifferent funding caps apply across various grant categories.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Grant applications in each category are assessed by a panel including TRC staff from the specified area and councillors.<\/p>\n<p>The competitive review process means that not all projects always can be fully funded.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>More information about each grant category can be viewed <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tr.qld.gov.au\/community-business\/grants-funding\/apply-by-category\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">online<\/a><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Applications have opened for Toowoomba Regional Council\u2019s next round of community grants.\u00a0<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":20,"featured_media":260418,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":[],"categories":[22,3],"tags":[70,1131,176],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v19.11 -
