A report prepared for the Red Earth Community Foundation which aims to “develop a pathway forward” for the Burnett was unveiled at a briefing session held in Kingaroy on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

The report, “Burnett Inland Futures”, was prepared by Dr Chad Renando from the Rural Economies Centre of Excellence (RECoE).<\/p>\n

It builds on “challenges and opportunities” in the South Burnett, North Burnett and Cherbourg council areas identified by Red Earth in 2019.<\/p>\n

\u201cWith support from Stanwell, we worked with the RECoE to analyse existing regional strategies and propose a framework that can facilitate the Burnett Inland\u2019s long-term resilience,\u201d Red Earth chair Georgie Somerset said.<\/p>\n

Dr Renando said the complex challenges facing the region could only be addressed through collective action.<\/p>\n

Mrs Somerset said Red Earth was proposing a “backbone structure” to allow everyone with an interest in the Burnett to become involved.<\/p>\n

The first opportunity to contribute ideas will be at the\u00a0Red Earth Leadership Forum which will be held in Murgon on Thursday, July 28.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cSpeakers include local leaders alongside Bega managing director Barry Irvin, Foundation for Rural & Regional Renewal CEO Natalie Egleton and Southern Qld Drought Hub leader Professor Dr John McVeigh,” Mrs Somerset said.<\/p>\n

The “Burnett Inland Futures” report will be officially released on Friday.<\/p>\n
