Queensland Health has reported six more COVID-19 deaths in the Darling Downs Health region, taking the toll since the pandemic began to 56.<\/p>\n

The latest figure was released on Sunday morning; Friday’s tally was 50.<\/p>\n

On Monday, the death toll for all of Queensland stood at 1270, up from 1254 on Friday.<\/p>\n

Last week almost 60 COVID-related deaths were reported in Queensland – believed to be the highest fatality count in one week since the pandemic began.<\/strong><\/p>\n

When the State borders re-opened on December 13, the State’s death toll for the whole pandemic stood at seven.<\/p>\n

The latest wave of new-variant Omicron cases is testing Queensland Health’s resources.<\/p>\n

On Monday, a total of 4056 new cases were reported.<\/p>\n

There were 598 people being treated for COVID-19 in Queensland hospitals, including 16 in intensive care units.<\/p>\n

Officially, there were an estimated 32,840 active cases in Queensland, although this figure is believed to be vastly underestimated.<\/p>\n

As at June 29, total South Burnett \/ Cherbourg cases (per postcode) since the pandemic began are:<\/strong><\/p>\n

NB. Not all cases recorded in Qld Health statistics have been allocated to a postcode. This is not the number of ACTIVE cases.<\/p>\n

Australia passed a grim milestone at the weekend, with the nation’s COVID-19 death toll surpassing 10,000.<\/strong><\/p>\n

More than 7000 of these deaths have occurred during the past six months.<\/p>\n
