The State Government’s free flu vaccination campaign has been extended until July 17.<\/p>\n

Since the program began on May 24, about 650,000 people have received a flu shot.<\/p>\n

Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk said the extension would allow families to take advantage of the program over the school holidays.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis campaign has already been incredibly successful, and a further two weeks will increase Queensland\u2019s coverage as we hit the peak of winter.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf you haven\u2019t yet had your vaccination, I urge you to take up our offer of a free shot.\u201d<\/p>\n

Minister D\u2019Ath said more than 29,000 Queenslanders have tested positive to flu so far this year, resulting in more than 3000 hospitalisations.<\/p>\n

\u201cToday there are 90 patents in our public hospitals, with five in ICU, who are positive with influenza.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re still early in the flu season, and it\u2019s already proving harsh.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe rollout has had an excellent response, lifting the State\u2019s flu vaccination rate by more than 12 per cent.\u00a0 But we want to protect more Queenslanders, especially families and those vulnerable to influenza.\u201d<\/p>\n

The flu vaccine is recommended annually for anyone over six months of age.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
