Josie’s Biggest Morning Tea, held in Kumbia last week, has raised thousands of dollars for the fight against cancer.<\/p>\n

The annual event, organised by the Birds Of A Feather cancer support group, supported the Cancer Council of Queensland but also honoured the late Josie McConville.<\/p>\n

Josie, who died in May last year, helped found Birds Of A Feather almost two decades ago and her annual “morning teas” in Kumbia raised funds for cancer research.<\/p>\n

Birds Of A Feather secretary Steph Stevens said this year’s “Josie’s Biggest Morning Tea” event attracted about 100 people to Kumbia Memorial Hall’s supper room on Thursday morning.<\/strong><\/p>\n

There was a guest speaker,\u00a0 nurse navigator (cancer and chronic disease) Natalie Leith; a multi-draw raffle and guessing competitions.<\/p>\n

“So far we\u2019ve raised over $2500 and might get to $3000 with some other donations coming in,” Steph told southburnett.com.au<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Birds Of A Feather team are also a big part of the South Burnett’s annual Relay For Life fundraising.<\/p>\n

This year’s Relay will be held on October 8 at the Kingaroy Showgrounds.<\/p>\n
