Blackbutt residents should not be alarmed if they hear shooting in the Gilla area on June 30.<\/p>\n

A property owner has engaged a professional pest control contractor to shoot feral pigs on their property.<\/p>\n

A low-flying helicopter will be used in the task.<\/p>\n

A social media post on Tuesday by South Burnett Regional Council alerting residents to the aerial pest control program in the Blackbutt area sparked some concerns among commenters.<\/p>\n

Council later clarified the post, emphasising it had no role in authorising the activity.<\/p>\n

A Biosecurity Queensland spokesperson told southburnett.com.au<\/strong> the department also had no role in approving the activity as it was on private land, however landowners did have an obligation to control feral animals on their properties.<\/p>\n
