The final Queensland Senate spots were confirmed by the Australian Electoral Commission on Friday afternoon.<\/p>\n

In a battle that went down to the wire, One Nation founder Pauline Hanson secured the fifth of the six spots available with the ALP’s Anthony Chisholm taking the sixth.<\/p>\n

The LNP’s Amanda Stoker, who was in the preference battle until the end, just missed out on being re-elected.<\/p>\n

The positions were decided by a complicated distribution of preferences.<\/p>\n

The 120 pages of results that detail the process are available on the Australian Electoral Commission website<\/a> <\/strong>(453kb PDF)<\/p>\n

There were six Queensland Senate seats up for grabs in the half-Senate election which was held simultaneously with the House of Representatives poll on May 21.<\/p>\n

The candidates elected (in order) were:<\/strong><\/p>\n

  1. James McGrath (LNP)<\/li>\n
  2. Murray Watt (ALP)<\/li>\n
  3. Matt Canavan (LNP)<\/li>\n
  4. Penny Allman-Payne (The Greens)<\/li>\n
  5. Pauline Hanson (PHON)<\/li>\n
  6. Anthony Chisholm (ALP)<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    The six Senators elected will each serve a six-year term.<\/p>\n

    High-profile candidates Clive Palmer, Campbell Newman and George Christensen were all excluded earlier during the preference distribution.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
