The South Burnett is going to look a bit greener thanks to a Federal Government program to “plant trees for the Queen’s Jubilee”.<\/p>\n

The South Burnett Western Performance Club will use a $14,750 grant to develop a commemorative tree garden at the Nanango Equestrian Centre to celebrate the Queen\u2019s passion for horses.<\/p>\n

The QCWA Kumbia Branch will use its $6600 grant to revitalise its existing garden and plant shade trees at their CWA building.<\/p>\n

And the South Burnett Regional Council will receive $20,000 to plant 14 jacarandas in Murgon\u2019s QEII Park.<\/p>\n

Seven mature trees and seven smaller trees will be planted to represent “the old and the young”.<\/p>\n

Murgon RSL Sub-Branch will also receive a grant to establish a line of trees in a planned Memorial Park in Gore Street, opposite the skate park.<\/p>\n

A total of $100,000 was allocated across Australia for every Federal Electorate to encourage community-based tree planting.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cDuring Her 70 years of service, The Queen has visited Australia on 16 occasions, often planting trees at community events and ceremonies as a long-lasting reminder of the special occasion for the people in those communities,\u201d Member for Maranoa David Littleproud said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Planting Trees for The Queen\u2019s Jubilee program creates a tree planting legacy across the nation for Australians to enjoy and increases the area of tree canopy in our communities, in celebration of Her Majesty\u2019s Jubilee.\u201d<\/p>\n

The $15.1 million Planting Trees for The Queen’s Jubilee program will run across three years, 2021-22 to 2023-24.<\/p>\n
