What do fifty people in a tin shed in Kingaroy have to do with Ukraine in 1905?<\/p>\n

They met for the first time recently to start rehearsals for the much-loved Broadway musical Fiddler on the Roof, which will be performed by the South Burnett Musical Comedy Society in early October.<\/p>\n

The not-for-profit community group has attracted a large cast of all ages who have survived the auditions.<\/p>\n

Now they must begin the lengthy but enjoyable process of rehearsing and putting on one of the most famous shows written.<\/p>\n

There are a few things in common between the Kingaroy cast and the Fiddler story.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The story centres on a dairy farmer at risk of losing his livelihood. <\/p>\n

It\u2019s about parents with a love of God, family and community under the pressures of a changing world, with young people wanting to do things differently.<\/p>\n

And it’s timely that Fiddler on the Roof is set in a Ukrainian village where families are forced to leave because of aggression from Russian authorities.<\/p>\n

The first rehearsal on the weekend signalled a great production lies ahead.<\/p>\n
