Five roads remain closed across the region as the result of recent flooding, and another 11 roads are still flood affected<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Five roads remain closed throughout the South Burnett region in the wake of the recent rain but another 11 remain “affected”, according to Council.<\/p>\n

The South Burnett Regional Council has requested its fourth activation since last November of funding through the Queensland Reconstruction Authority.<\/p>\n

Deputy Mayor Gavin Jones said the current road closures were re-inspected twice a day by Council road crews.<\/p>\n

\u201cRoads crews are trained and well-equipped and erect appropriate signage,\u201d Cr Jones said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe ask for the public\u2019s patience and understanding if they see a damaged road undergoing a short-term repair.\u201d<\/p>\n

Cr Jones said initial repairs were only temporary prior to an inspection that formed the basis of a claim for Commonwealth funds that will enable the repair to be completed to a high standard.<\/p>\n

\u201cResidents are asked to not rush to judgment when they see the initial temporary stage of repair. The road damage has to be inspected so we can claim the money to fix it properly. We will be back to do a proper job.<\/p>\n

\u201cCouncil staff are responding with great effort to the challenges posed by recent weather events, and I thank them wholeheartedly.\u201d<\/p>\n
