The Kingaroy Art Gallery’s traditional two-month winter celebration of crafts was officially launched on Friday night.<\/p>\n

Gallery patron, former South Burnett mayor Keith Campbell, did the honours praising the gallery for encouraging South Burnett residents to “unleash their creativity” and take up crafts.<\/p>\n

This is the sixth time the Kingaroy Gallery has hosted a winter craft festival, and the fifth time it has been able to boast that it’s the “Queensland Winter Craft Festival”, thanks to support from the Regional Arts Fund and the Flying Arts Alliance.<\/p>\n

During June and July, the gallery will host exhibitions, workshops and demonstrations showcasing some of the best craftworkers Queensland has to offer.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Alpaca Collective has taken over the main gallery in June with their 2022 Farm to Fashion Collection, featuring handcrafted winter apparel, either spun, woven or felted.<\/p>\n

In Galley 2, Proston quilter Ruth Wagner has her “Shutters – Looking Out” exhibition. These are quilts but not how you know them … each tells a story. The quilted artworks, designed to be hung on a wall, each take weeks or more to create.<\/p>\n

June Craft Demonstrations<\/span><\/strong><\/h3>\n

There will be different craft demonstrations at the Kingaroy Gallery every day throughout June (except June 25 and June 29-30).<\/strong><\/p>\n

The events will run from either 9:00am or 10:00am to 1:00pm.<\/p>\n

Demonstrations include print making, spinning, weaving, rugmaking and paper making.<\/p>\n
