Cracks which have appeared in a concrete wall beside the D’Aguilar Highway on the Blackbutt Range pose no risk to road users, according to the Department of Transport and Main Roads.<\/p>\n

A spokesperson said the Department was aware of the condition.<\/p>\n

“We will soon begin geotechnical investigations on the eastbound shoulder of the D’Aguilar Highway between Possum Bush Road, Moore, and Old Esk Road, Benarkin,” the spokesperson said.<\/p>\n

“Geotechnical investigations include sampling of underlying material to assist with future monitoring and remediation design.<\/p>\n

“These investigations are scheduled to begin this week and expected to be completed within two to five days, weather and site conditions permitting.<\/strong><\/p>\n

“We will continue to monitor the wall\u2019s condition and undertake further investigations and maintenance as required.”<\/p>\n

The issue was initially raised by Member for Nanango Deb Frecklington on her Facebook page last week.<\/p>\n

“I have made contact with TMR who will be undertaking geotechnical investigations to improve the stability of the slope and reduce the likelihood of a landslip,” Mrs Frecklington wrote.<\/p>\n

“There may be some small delays whilst they undertake these works in the next week.<\/p>\n

“Thanks to the constituents who raised their concerns with me.”<\/p>\n

The post provoked multiple comments, with some people claiming the crack had been getting worse since February, and another saying they had seen water pouring out of it during recent rainfall.<\/p>\n
