Blue Care has won a $55 million State Government tender to deliver palliative care across nine hospital and health service regions in regional Queensland.<\/p>\n

The Darling Downs and the Wide Bay health service regions are among the recipients.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis funding will provide better access to palliative care throughout regional Queensland,” Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk said.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt will also ensure that more Queenslanders can spend what precious time they have left in a comfortable, familiar environment close to family and friends.\u201d<\/p>\n

Health Minister Yvette D\u2019Ath said the $55 million would fund new community-based palliative care initiatives to increase home-based and after-hours care.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cWe want to ensure Queenslanders can exercise genuine choice at end of life and die with dignity,\u201d Ms D’Ath said.<\/p>\n
